Purchasing Officer

JOB SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Officer will be involved in coordinating with suppliers, scheduling orders, and following up on shipments. They will offer complete related to purchasing and procurement. Our ideal candidate is meticulously organized, proactive and prudent with experience in purchasing.
JOB TITLE: Purchasing Officer
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:
- Place orders for equipment and supplies required for manufacturing operations
- Identify suppliers and support the negotiation of contracts with existing suppliers
- Determine contract contents and conditions, consult with suppliers and review quotations or proposals
- Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements
- Plan ways to reduce purchasing costs and work within budget
- Determine requirements for supplies, materials and equipment based on available information and recommendations from various departments
- Establish, monitor and evaluate delivery schedules, following up with suppliers as needed
- Resolve issues that arise with purchases included delayed shipments, damaged or defective goods, contract violations etc.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors and ensure supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations
- Ensure ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
- Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases
- Optimize purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditions
- Produce regular reports on purchase commitments, costs and delivery performance
- Prioritize administrative tasks and meet deadlines
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of Secondary School is required
- At least 1 year of related experience
- Able to read, write and speak in English

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term.
WAGES: $37 per hour
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.
BENEFITS PACKAGE:
- Insurance from Workplace Safety Insurance Board covered by employer
- Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.
