Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Tutor for Secondary School Subjects to provide personalized instruction to our two daughters who are currently in high school. Both have social anxiety and have had difficulty keeping up with standard teaching methods and could use one-on-one tutoring.
The ideal candidate will not only have a strong grasp of secondary school subjects but also the ability to create a supportive and understanding learning environment that caters to the unique needs of our children.
We are preparing them for university and are adamant to get them the best possible help in the market.
Language of tutoring: English
Education requirements: college/CEGEP
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer one-on-one tutoring in subjects including Math, and other relevant secondary school
- Assist with homework assignments, exam preparation, and project work.
- Monitor and assess the student's progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Maintain open communication with the student's parents/guardians to discuss progress and any concerns.
- Cultivate a positive and encouraging atmosphere to boost the student's confidence and academic performance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in teaching and/or tutoring for at least 2 to 3 years, with a focus on individualized instruction; area of specialization: Mathematics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a passion for teaching.
- Experience or training in supporting students with social anxiety or similar challenges is an asset.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to provide a recent criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector screening, if needed.
Working Conditions:
- Attention to detail
- Full-time, permanent work of at least 30 hours per week.
- Hourly rate of $28.50, overtime rate of $42.75 per hour will apply after 44 hours of work per week.
- Flexible scheduling day time, with availability during weekends as needed.
- Teaching format: tutor sessions will be conducted in the student's home in Woodbridge, L4L 8K2 location on-on-one instruction. There is no option to work remotely, only virtual in cases of exceptional weather circumstances.
