Job Description
Position - Mechanical Engineer
Job Description Position:
- Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of mechanisms, components, and systems.
- Analyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structures.
- Design custom power resistor solutions for neutral and high resistance grounding, circuit breaking and control, harmonic filtering, and medium voltage load bank applications.
- Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to ensure resistors can withstand environmental conditions, and mechanical stress, and achieve optimal heat dissipation and thermal stability for efficient and reliable operation.
- Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost, and timing estimates, reports, and design specifications for machinery and systems.
- Conduct electrical tests, including voltage, current, resistance, and power dissipation measurements, to verify performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing considerations during the conceptualization, design, and engineering phases of power resistors.
- Create electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and circuit layouts based on project requirements.
- Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance.
- Develop scripts and macros within CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) to automate, and standardize product designs.
- Develop maintenance standards, schedules, and programs.
- Assess business opportunities and develop strategies.
- Maintaining a robust and organized database of parts with professional PDM tools.
- Ensure electromechanical designs comply with industry standards (such as ANSI, IEEE) and regulatory requirements (UL, CE) for safety and performance.
- Supervise technicians, technologists, and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
- Analyze information, develop, and measure standard metrics, diagram the flow of processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems.
- Develop risk management plans.
Experience/Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer.
- Relevant manufacturing industry experience i.e. Semi-conductor/Electrical components/ Resistors are mandatory.
- Experience with FEA and CFD analysis.
Other skill requirements
- Expert knowledge of power resistors' applications, design, and engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of switchgear, transformers, motors, and generators.
- Efficient interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
